Opt-In/Out
Helloooooo my lovely audience!
This is Shadow Milk's Opt-in/out! It is here for multiple reasons!
1. If you want to opt out of dealing with this guy completely, let me know! He sucks! He has a history of Atrocities not limited to orchestrating wars, facilitating human (cookie) experimentation, forging memories to manipulate others, and being generally deranged without much regard to human (cookie) life!
2. While I have sealed 90% of his world breaking abilities, he does still have access to some stuff, so here you can opt in/out for some of that!
Shadow Milk holds the Light of Deceit, which is the opposite of Pure Vanilla's Light of Truth. Like is sounds, he can see into your heart and see all the little lies you tell yourself, deny yourself, or wrap yourself in. He was also the previous Virtue of Knowledge which is what happens when Truth and Deceit come together. He can still see your Truths like Pure Vanilla can, but not nearly on such a high scale.
3. He is also telepathic, but heavily scaled down, so if you would like to tell me any amusing surface thoughts he might glean from your character, that's fun, too. Give him some gossip, he needs his soaps.

That said, he is welcome to read him mind! He's not going to get a ton from Mizuki specifically.
Light of Deceit: Mizuki's got a silly goofy little secret of.......... being an eldritch god! He isn't aware he is - he thinks he's simply just Seaborn and that's the end of it. But there is something godly that resides in him, and it's very inquisitive. It asks the sort of questions one might expect of a very young eldritch god, and examines everything to try and learn of the world. What is God? What is human? What is emotion? How should we act? What are rights? What are wrongs? It doesn't know, but it is very observant.
It may look back at Shadow Milk, though. Hi, hello.
Other: He might be able to see Mizuki while he's camouflaged??? That's like technically a lie. Which would mean he can like see his tentacles Always, probably. Sorry, buddy.
cw: suicidal thoughts, ISAT spoilers, the works
Telepathy Opt In/Out: yeah they are shockingly easy to read, something something body is a divine construct designed for easy-access
Light of Deceit:
click for the Deets
Other: Loop thinks he's just a funny lil guy and friends with PV/TK nothing will convince them otherwise probably

Telepathy Opt In/Out: lmao TK is literally only good at time nonsense, so she sucks at this. Her thoughts are Very Here and she will probably not notice unless SM makes it obvious he's reading her mind, but good luck keeping up with them it's a nonstop train of ADHD nonsense streaming through at all times. Surface thoughts are a bit like a section of sea serpent suddenly rising up from the waves before crashing back underneath them. Please come poke me if I forget to narrate them ever though I will do my best to remember.
Light of Deceit: Hey guess what she also sucks at defending against this, so he can straight up go for it!! Crash course in the 500 ways she's constantly lying to herself:
-TK is almost always acting like/convincing herself that she has more control over the situation than she does, ESPECIALLY IN STICKS. She actually was pretty in control back home! But here... nah. NAH. This will probably stick out like a sore thumb specifically because it's new.
-She feels like there's nothing left of the cookie she used to be, and that she did what she had to to get here. Or, well, there's still shades of this lie. But her time in the Grove sure has cracked this one wide open, and it's a belief she's starting to doubt.
-(Her soul is layers and layers of artificial tinkering on top of what's left of its original form, pipes and cogwheels and pistons tangled around something more organic. There's more left than she tells herself. Its glow is getting stronger.)
-Her adamant belief that no one really cares much about her is less true here. The lie that she doesn't care about that anyway blazes as strong as ever.
-She's often on some level of telling herself that she doesn't care about others as much as she actually does, though she drops that lie quickly when situations demand it. That much hasn't changed. Nor has the fact that she's hiding a bit of fondness/fascination behind all the venom she slings at SM, lol.
-If she overexerts herself she will usually try to hide it so hard. Please obnoxiously point out whenever she's pretending she doesn't have a migraine bc she did too much time shit that day.
Watch me think of like ten more later.
Other: SM probably knows about the temporal void in her left eye, huh.

Light of Deceit: Her hair is red. ...that's it. In fact, that's eerily it. She's pretty straight forward about what she's about.
Other: Because he's so blue, there's a good chance she's just going to....ignore his EVERYTHING and come up with her own (positive) narrative about him. Kind of like how she treats Paracelsus, but not nearly as extreme. Paracelsus lite. If you're not into that, just let me know.

Telepathy Opt In/Out: Opt in! Shockingly normal human over here so when she's not thinking about something specific feel free to make up banal shit like who will win American Idol
Light of Deceit:
-She pretends to be confident to hide a staggering lack of confidence.
-Her cheery attitude is all Fake-It-Till-You-Make-It. She's about halfway there.
-She's been told she's a screw-up and in the way so much that sometimes she thinks she makes everything she touches worse.
-She both loves and hates her abusive criminal father. It's a weird mix of truths and lies in there.
-Her feelings about Batman and Tim Drake (her ex) are similar, to a lesser degree.
-She blames herself for every death that happened during the city-wide gang war she accidentally triggered while trying to prove herself after Batman fired her as Robin. She was 16.
-She also blames herself for being captured, tortured for several days and ultimately killed while the gang war was going on. (It was retconned, I headcanon that her heart stopped but they were able to resuscitate her)
-She feels guilty for letting her doctor 'teach Batman a lesson' or something by faking her death afterwards.
-She was suicidal for the first ~6 months she away, but too badly hurt to actually attempt.
-She represses the shit out of all of that stuff.
Other: Her biggest Truths are being Batgirl, and that she wants more than anything to help people and leave the world a better place than she found it. The goodest of beans with some serious self-esteem issues.

Telepathy Opt In/Out: Opt in welcome to self-loathing and ADHD
Light of Deceit: Opt in~
-He tells himself he was fine being a sword before because he could still watch Finn's adventures and feel like he was a part of things, but it was torture. He actually asked the curse Grass Demon to help him get out even though he knew it was evil.
-His human dad was a total loser that (somewhat accidentally) abandoned him. He's obsessed with money, likes to pretend he's a big hero, and basically runs away from everything that's inconvenient. Fern is afraid that he's the same.
-He refuses to be aware that he still thinks he wishes he was Finn. He doesn't really care about being a better Finn anymore, but he still wishes he was... different.
-He believes that he is fundamentally broken in a way that can't be fixed.
-He totally still has a crush on Princess Bubblegum.
Other: Oh wait, he has some natural defense against mind-control and mind-reading. Not enough to be considered a superpower, he's just sort of weirdly resistant.
this is for alla mine sorry-
Character Opt Out: nope! i'll lyk if that changes
Telepathy Opt In/Out: ain has resistance to mental effects unfort. if SM tries to dig in his brain he'll feel himself being pushed out immediately. ain will just smile at him like :) :) :) bitch u thought- anyway this is an "opt in" but the opting in is Ain cockblocking him???
Light of Deceit: Ain has a lot of lies he tells himself and 90% of them are a result of his anxiety. he is not a character who lies (anymore) (thank you stix chardev) but it would be really easy to catch him in one if it comes up. example being: sometimes people ask him how he's feeling and he skirts around the topic entirely ("hey ain how are you?" "this sandwich is really good :)") but this is usually only when he's upset already about something and doesn't want to talk about it. otherwise, here is a list of lies and self-doubts he has:
- he will obviously be able to stay with his very much mortal friends and loved ones for the rest of his immortal lifespan, he won't outlive them they'll all live happily ever after :)
- he's "second best" to the people he loves (this has been proven untrue but he is, again, anxious and has developed Issues as of late)
- he's pretty convinced if he dies and stays dead that people will forget him entirely due to experiences in his past where leaving the immediate area/dying/losing his human form caused his group of friends back home to entirely forget him until he came back. this hasn't happened in the last several years, but it's a big fear of his regardless.
- he has to be "useful" or "helpful" or "capable" to be liked, and if he's not doing something for others they'll cease liking him
i'm sure i'll think of something else later but the bitch like #struggles emotionally and needs a xanax.
Other: if he can sense supernaturals/holy creatures/etc he'd be able to clock ain as an angel/holy/CRK equivalent?? and if ain lightballs ever again he'd probably know immediately it was him. he also Is the soul, his physical body is the soul, it's not a soul contained in a body if that makes sense.
also ily
gnosis, passenger, flamebringer:
Character Opt Out: Yes, entirely - I just don't think threads with any of them will be very fun because of their personalities (gnosis/passenger tend to eyeroll/walk away from anyone too troll-y, and I think Flamebringer might just full stop attack the guy and I don't want to deal w/ FB's ass rn). BUT i'll lyk if that changes at any point!

Telepathy Opt In/Out: Opt-in
Light of Deceit:
-She is a very compassionate person, though she pretends not to be.
-She doesn't like to show much emotion. There's no trauma there, it's just partly cultural and mostly how she was raised.
-She has definitely done crimes
-She would kill for the people she loves in a heartbeat with zero regrets.
-She's keeping Loop's secret
Other: Truths would probably include that her mother abandoned her as a baby, and that she absolutely adores her canon found-family, Loop included.
